Who’s Under Our Roof

Parallax Project

A Richmond-based wine label founded by Lance Lemon, co-owner of Penny’s Wine Shop in Jackson Ward, and Reggie Leonard, VinePair’s 2024 Advocate of the Year. Emerging from CWC’s inaugural incubator cohort in 2023, Parallax takes a conceptual approach to Virginia varieties: both What’s This (white) and What’s That (red) are made from the same blend of vidal blanc, chardonel, and tannat, exploring how different winemaking methods yield totally different expressions from identical fruit. A little switch-up move, if you will.

12 Ridges Vineyard

Situated at 3,300 feet on Virginia’s Blue Ridge Parkway, 12 Ridges is one of the highest altitude vineyard in the state. Its cool temperatures, low humidity, and permeable stony soil low in clay, offer an extraordinary opportunity for high quality grape growing.

7 Lady Vineyards

Located on 55 acres at the Dover Hall estate in Manakin-Sabot, VA, 7 Lady is the brainchild of two long-time friends and business partners who share the same passion for family, entrepreneurship, genuine hospitality, and premium wines. The project’s name is an homage to the seven beautiful ladies who embody the heartbeat of the Hornik-Ottaviano partnership.

Love Echo

Founded by Brooklyn-based sommelier and wine educator Jahdé Marley, Love Echo emerged from CWC’s inaugural incubator cohort in 2023. Named for intentional sounds that change or maintain a frequency, Love Echo pursues climate-appropriate grapes and the expressive range they’re capable of in VA – across three releases, including a still white of petit manseng and vidal blanc, and a pét-nat infused with wild-foraged pawpaws, that vary vintage to vintage as harvest conditions allow.

Lightwell Survey

Since 2015, Lightwell Survey has been shining a new light on the traditional wine-scape. Their small batches of lively reds, dense whites and unique combinations of the two come with no preconceived descriptions or traditional aspirations. They aim for a bullseye yet prefer to land slightly off center.

Novella Wines

Novella was born when D.C. sommeliers Jen Anderson and Karl Kuhn met working at one of Virginia’s top wineries. They shared an encyclopedic palate, a relentless curiosity, and a global perspective rooted in local experience. With years of driving Michelin-starred wine programs and seasons of working harvest between them, they stopped dreaming of “someday” and made a project of their own. Novella is the result: low-intervention, honestly made wines that let Virginia speak for itself.

Nouveau Farms

A family-owned urban farm and winery situated on 7 acres near Richmond, VA in the town of Varina. One of the few Harmonized GAP certified farms in central VA, Nouveau Farms connects people through wine and locally grown produce, cultivated using hydroponic techniques. Founded by husband-and-wife team Trevor and Kaneik Ferguson, the operation extends into RVA’s Carytown neighborhood through Nouveau Provisions, a wine bar and specialty shop offering small-production wines and private dining.

Star Party Winery

Star Party prides itself in producing low-intervention, natural wines. With an inaugural vintage in 2021, they source grapes primarily from the Shenandoah Valley AVA and strive to allow their wines to be the purest expression of terroir that each vintage offers. The team is committed to reducing environmental impacts throughout the winemaking process so that generations to come can enjoy quality wine under starry skies.
